Indian expat boy in UAE wins 1kg gold in DSF mega raffle

In a proud moment for the Indian expat community in the UAE, Aniketh R Nair, a 13-year-old Indian boy from Kerala has won one kilogram of gold in the mega raffle organised by the Dubai Jewellery Group (DJG) during Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) 2025–26.

The lucky winner, Aniketh R Nair, an eighth-grade Indian student living in Sharjah, received the prize worth over half a million dirhams at today’s record-high gold prices. The gold was presented to him by Tawhid Abdulla, Chairman of Dubai Jewellery Group, during a special prize handover event in Dubai.

Aniketh’s father, R Nair, an Indian expat working in the UAE as a regional sales manager, said the family entered the raffle after purchasing a bracelet for Aniketh on January 8 from a Dubai jewellery outlet. The raffle ticket was issued in Aniketh’s name, and the family had no idea it would lead to such a life-changing win.

“When I got the call, I honestly thought it was a scam because we keep receiving such messages,” Nair said. The family later confirmed the details by checking the ticket number and winner’s name on DJG’s official website, and only then realised it was genuine.

The father said the family plans to invest the prize wisely, adding that VAT will need to be paid first, while the remaining value will be used for the children’s education and future.

Calling it a special moment, Tawhid Abdulla said the young winner represents the joy and excitement that DSF brings every year, along with Dubai’s long-standing reputation as the “City of Gold.”

Aniketh was handed four 250g gold bars, totalling 1kg, as part of DJG’s DSF campaign that ran from December 5, 2025, to January 11, 2026. Shoppers who spent Dh1,500 or more at participating jewellery outlets were eligible to enter the raffle, with winners receiving gold prizes across multiple weeks.
