RTA Launches On-Demand Bus Pooling Service
Dubai residents can now enjoy “bus pooling” by sharing minibus rides through a new booking system on smart apps, announced on Wednesday.
Initially available in Deira, the service connects areas like Business Bay, Dubai Mall, Mirdif, and Dubai Festival City. Plans are in place to gradually expand the service across the city.
The fare for the service will vary based on the distance traveled and demand. Passengers can choose from single trips or weekly and monthly subscription options. The minibuses, with a capacity of 13 to 30 passengers, are operated by three companies—Citylink Shuttle, DrivenBus, and Fluxx Daily—each managing 20 minibuses through their respective apps.
Ahmed Hashim Bahrozyan, CEO of the RTA’s Public Transport Agency, explained that the minibuses will operate on-demand without fixed routes, offering flexibility and convenience.
The service is designed to attract new segments of the community by offering a faster and more convenient alternative to private vehicles.
