Delhi Airport to Halt Flights Daily for 2.5 Hours (Jan 21–26)
Flight operations at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport will be temporarily suspended for nearly 2.5 hours each day from January 21 to January 26 as part of enhanced security measures ahead of India’s Republic Day celebrations.
According to a government-issued Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), the airport will remain closed from 10:20am to 12:45pm on these days to facilitate Republic Day parade rehearsals, including aerial flypasts and defence exercises. Passengers travelling between the UAE and Delhi during this period may experience delays, rescheduling, or cancellations, with aviation analytics firm Cirium estimating that over 600 flights could be affected.
The temporary shutdown comes amid dense fog and severe winter conditions in North India, which have already been impacting flight operations. UAE-based travellers are advised to check with their airlines in advance and allow extra time for travel planning.
