Kuwait Expands E-Visa Access for GCC Expats
Kuwait has expanded its electronic visa (e-visa) system to allow more expatriates living in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to apply, under newly clarified rules. The initiative aims to modernize entry procedures while ensuring security and compliance.
Who’s Eligible?
Expatriates in GCC countries can apply for a Kuwait e-visa if they meet these conditions:
- Hold valid GCC residency of more than six months
- Have a passport valid for at least six months from the date of entry
- Work in approved professions, including:
- Doctors
- Engineers
- Lawyers
- Teachers
- Journalists
- Business Managers
- Maintain a clean legal record
Who’s Not Eligible?
Nationals of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, and Yemen are excluded from the e-visa program. They must apply in person at a Kuwaiti embassy or consulate.
Visa on Arrival: 53 Countries Included
Citizens of 53 countries—including the USA, UK, Germany, France, and others—can obtain a visa on arrival at Kuwait International Airport. Requirements include:
- Valid passport (minimum six months)
- Return ticket
- Accommodation address to be registered at the visa counter
How to Apply for the Kuwait E-Visa
The e-visa application is fully online and usually processed within 1–3 business days. Required documents:
- Passport biodata page (digital copy)
- Proof of valid GCC residency
- Return ticket
- Passport-sized photo
- Accommodation details
- Proof of profession (if applicable)
Approved e-visas are sent by email; travelers must print and carry a copy upon arrival.
Validity and Stay
- E-visa validity: 90 days from issuance
- Maximum stay: 90 days from the date of entry
Travellers must ensure all documents remain valid during their stay and comply with local laws.
