Mohanlal to Promote Directorial Debut ‘Barroz’ in Dubai

Malayalam cinema icon Mohanlal will visit Dubai on December 19 to promote his highly-anticipated directorial debut, Barroz: Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure. The fantasy 3D film is slated to release in UAE cinemas on December 26, making it one of the most awaited festive releases this year.

This milestone marks Mohanlal’s first venture as a director in his illustrious four-decade career. The actor-director describes the project as a passion-driven journey filled with imagination and emotion.

“Life has come full circle,” said Ahmad Golchin, Chairman of Phars Films and the local distributor of Barroz. “Thirty-nine years ago, I brought Malayalam’s first 3D fantasy film, Kuttichathan, to UAE cinemas. Now, its spiritual successor, Barroz, directed by Kerala’s biggest star, Mohanlal, returns to the region in 3D.”

Mohanlal’s Dubai visit will be highlighted by a grand promotional event at Dubai Mall, where fans can witness a song reveal in the evening. The event is expected to attract major stars and cinema enthusiasts alike.

Set against the backdrop of Portugal’s colonial history, Barroz is a 3D fantasy adventure that weaves themes of loyalty, legacy, and redemption into its storyline. With an international cast featuring actors from Spain and Portugal, the film has generated significant buzz for its ambitious visual storytelling and unique narrative.

Mohanlal described the film as a dream come true. “Directing a film was never on my mind, but Barroz felt so special that I had to take on the challenge. It’s not just a story; it’s a journey of imagination,” he said.

Initially conceptualized as a play, the script evolved into a larger-than-life 3D film. “We create magic from a small place like Kerala but dream big on a large canvas,” Mohanlal added, emphasizing the ambitious scope of the project.
