Dubai to Introduce Variable Salik and Parking Rates
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced new Variable Road Toll Pricing (Salik) and Variable Parking Tariff Policies as part of its plan to enhance traffic management in the city. These measures will take effect in 2025 to optimize traffic flow and parking availability.
Salik Toll Pricing Details
The Variable Salik system, set to begin at the end of January 2025, will allow motorists to travel toll-free between 1 AM and 6 AM. During weekdays, toll rates will vary:
- Peak Hours (6 AM – 10 AM & 4 PM – 8 PM): Dh6 per toll.
- Off-Peak Hours (10 AM – 4 PM & 8 PM – 1 AM): Dh4 per toll.
- Sundays (Excluding public holidays and major events): Dh4 throughout the day, free between 1 AM and 6 AM.
New Parking Fee Structure
The updated Variable Parking Tariff Policy will be implemented by the end of March 2025. It outlines:
- Premium Parking Areas: Dh6 per hour during peak hours (8 AM – 10 AM & 4 PM – 8 PM).
- Standard Paid Parking Areas: Dh4 per hour during the same peak periods.
- Off-Peak Parking Hours (10 AM – 4 PM & 8 PM – 10 PM): Parking fees will remain at the current rate.
- Nighttime Parking (10 PM – 8 AM): Free.
- Sundays: Free all day.
Event-Specific Congestion Pricing
A Congestion Pricing Policy will be applied around event venues, starting in February 2025 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. During major events, public parking in these areas will be charged at Dh25 per hour to manage increased demand effectively.
These policies aim to balance traffic flow, reduce congestion, and ensure better parking availability in high-demand areas throughout Dubai.
