Paytm Extends UPI Payments to Global Destinations

Paytm, owned by One97 Communications (OCL), has announced the extension of its Unified Payments Interface (UPI) service to select international locations, allowing Indian users to make cashless payments while traveling abroad. The service is now available in popular destinations, including the UAE, Singapore, France, Mauritius, Bhutan, and Nepal.

With this update, Paytm users can conveniently pay for shopping, dining, and local experiences overseas through the Paytm app, wherever UPI is accepted. This marks a significant milestone for the platform, known for pioneering QR codes, Soundbox, and mobile payments in India.

The company emphasized that this move aligns with its goal of empowering users by leveraging technology to simplify transactions, even when they are outside India. A spokesperson for Paytm expressed confidence that this feature will make foreign travel more convenient, particularly during the upcoming holiday season.

This expansion further reinforces Paytm’s leadership in digital payments and UPI’s growing presence on the global stage.
