UAE Shipping Firm Disappears with Dh2 Million Worth of Residents’ Goods
When Dubai resident Waseem Raza searched online for “cheap cargo to Pakistan,” he thought he had found the perfect solution with Pakistan Raveed Alam Cargo Service. The company promised low-cost, door-to-door delivery and quickly collected his five cartons of electronics, clothes, and family memorabilia for just Dh300. Months later, the items never arrived in Karachi, and the company had vanished without a trace.
Raza lodged a complaint with Dubai Police, suspecting the goods had been sold. Other residents shared similar stories. Businessman Arsal Khan said his family lost over Dh100,000 worth of items, including a Rolex watch, appliances, and important documents, after paying Dh8,000 for a shipment that never arrived in Pakistan. Banker Allaudin lost Dh15,000 worth of designer clothes and sentimental belongings. He later discovered a WhatsApp group of nearly 40 affected customers, with collective losses estimated at Dh2 million.
When victims visited the company’s warehouse in Sharjah, they found it abandoned and sealed by authorities. Police confirmed that the firm’s owner had left the UAE in September 2024. This case echoes a similar 2019 incident, when Dubai-based Noor Al Fajar Cargo disappeared with customers’ valuables, which were later auctioned off in Karachi after being left unclaimed at the port.
