UAE Introduces 180-Day Entry Visa for Blue Residency Applicants

The UAE has launched a new 180-day multiple-entry visa for individuals applying for the Blue Residency — a 10-year long-term visa for those making outstanding contributions in environmental protection, sustainability, and renewable energy.

Announced by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP), this visa allows eligible applicants from outside the UAE to enter the country and complete the required procedures for obtaining the Blue Residency.

Who Qualifies?

Eligible categories include:

  • Distinguished influencers in environment, climate change, or sustainability
  • Scientists and researchers with international achievements (with UAE Scientists Council approval)
  • Investors and entrepreneurs in green sectors
  • Environmental specialists working in UAE public or private institutions

Application Process

The application can be completed in four steps using the UAEICP website or mobile app:

  1. Fill in required information and upload documents
  2. Pay the applicable fees
  3. Submit the application
  4. Receive confirmation via email

Required Documents

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months
  • Recent coloured personal photograph
  • Documents supporting Blue Residency eligibility

The entire application takes around seven minutes, and if all requirements are met, the visa is processed within one working day.

This new entry visa complements the UAE’s broader sustainable development efforts and follows previous initiatives like the Golden and Green Residency programs. During the World Government Summit earlier this year, 20 sustainability leaders were already granted the Blue Residency as part of the first phase.
