UAE Launches Four New Visit Visa Categories

The UAE has introduced a major set of updates to its visa and residency system, designed to attract global talent, support tourism, and strengthen economic growth. Announced by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP), the changes bring in new visit visa categories, expanded residency options, and revised rules for business and labor permits.


Four New Visit Visa Categories

  1. AI Specialist Visa – For individuals in artificial intelligence fields, issued for single or multiple entries with a letter from a host or sponsoring technology company.
  2. Entertainment Visa – Granted to foreigners visiting temporarily for leisure or recreational purposes.
  3. Event Visa – For those attending festivals, conferences, exhibitions, seminars, or cultural, sports, religious, or educational activities.
  4. Cruise Tourism Visa – A multiple-entry visa for travelers arriving on cruise ships or leisure boats, linked to an approved itinerary and licensed host company.

Expanded Residency Options

  • Humanitarian Residency Permit – One-year permit, renewable, for individuals from countries affected by wars, disasters, or unrest.
  • Residency for Widows and Divorcees – Available within six months of a spouse’s death or divorce, subject to conditions.
  • Visit Visa for Relatives and Friends – Residents can sponsor friends or relatives up to the third degree, with eligibility based on income level.

Business and Labour Visa Revisions

  • Business Exploration Visa – Requires proof of financial solvency, overseas company ownership, or documented professional practice.
  • Truck Drivers’ Visa – Available for foreign lorry drivers making single or multiple trips, sponsored by licensed transport companies, with mandatory health insurance and financial guarantees.
