UAE Weight Loss Challenge Returns with Exciting Rewards
The UAE’s highly anticipated weight loss challenge is back, offering participants the chance to earn up to Dh300 for every kilogram lost. Now in its fifth edition, the RAK Biggest Weight Loss Challenge (RBWLC) will run for 12 weeks, from February 21 to May 22, with registration now open for free.
Exciting New Categories
This year, organizers have introduced a ‘family category’, encouraging families to lose weight together. Participants can join in teams of at least three members, with the family achieving the highest average weight loss winning lifestyle vouchers. Additionally, couples will receive separate prizes.
The challenge is divided into two main categories:
- Physical Category: The top male and female participants will receive cash rewards of Dh300, Dh200, and Dh100 per kilogram lost.
- Virtual Category: Participants will win staycations, health packages, dining vouchers, and gym memberships.
Corporate & School Challenges
- Corporate Teams: Companies can register employees in groups, with the top 10 employees’ average weight loss determining the winners.
- School Category: Schools can register teams of 10 or more staff members. Additionally, the school with the lowest average BMI recorded for its children will be recognized.
Weigh-In & Prize Details
- Physical Category: Participants must weigh in at RAK Hospital at the start and end of the challenge.
- Virtual Category: Weigh-ins can be done at a local clinic.
- Corporate & School Winners: Trophies will be awarded.
Growing Impact on Public Health
With 40% of adults and children in the UAE affected by obesity, RAK Hospital’s initiative aims to combat rising health concerns, including diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.
Last year, over 18,000 participants took part, with a 31-year-old expat losing 30kg and winning Dh9,000. With bigger prizes and new categories, this year’s edition promises to be even more rewarding.
