Dubai Scam Call Warning

Dubai’s Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) has sounded a fresh alert to residents as scam calls continue to rise across the city. Fraudsters are now posing as government authorities and using advanced voice-cloning technology to trick the public into sharing personal and financial information.

The warning follows a growing number of complaints from residents who received automated or live calls claiming to be from official departments. To highlight the seriousness of the issue, TDRA recently released an awareness video featuring a real example of a cloned voice convincingly mimicking an authority figure—showing how easily victims can be misled.

Officials emphasised that genuine government agencies do not request confidential data by phone. They also clarified that legitimate departments do not threaten legal action, fines, or service suspension over calls. Any such communication is a clear sign of fraud.

Residents have been urged to adopt a strict approach: hang up immediately, block the number, and avoid continuing the conversation. TDRA further encouraged the public to rely only on verified official portals, apps, and communication channels when seeking information.

As scammers become more sophisticated, residents are reminded to stay cautious, protect their data, and remain alert to emerging fraud tactics in the UAE.
