Dubai’s Ambidextrous Bowler Mahidhaar Eyes IPL
Mahidhaar Dommaraju, a 12-year-old from Dubai, is turning heads with a rare cricketing talent—he can bowl fast with both his right and left arms. This ambidextrous ability is nearly unheard of in pace bowling, making Mahidhaar a unique prospect in the cricket world.
His father, Ramprasad, a former club cricketer from Chennai, first noticed Mahidhaar bowling left-arm pace at the age of six, despite being naturally right-handed. Since then, Mahidhaar has consistently bowled with both arms, impressing coaches and players in the UAE, Oman, and Sri Lanka. Trained at Desert Cubs Cricket Academy, his coaches highlight that such skill combined with pace and control is unparalleled in UAE cricket.
Mahidhaar’s ambition is to play for India and feature in the Indian Premier League, specifically the Royal Challengers Bengaluru team—his cricketing idol being Virat Kohli. His parents provide strong support, with his father dedicating his time full-time to Mahidhaar’s training and his mother balancing a career as a dentist while supporting his dreams.
Experts praise Mahidhaar’s rare gift and hard work, emphasizing that if he maintains his fitness and focus, he could soon rise to cricketing prominence as a pioneering ambidextrous pace bowler.
