Indian Passport Collection in UAE: New Centres Announced After Closures
Indian passport collection in the UAE has been moved to new designated locations following the permanent closure of four Indian Consular Application Centres in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. From October 25, 2026, applicants with passports pending collection at these centres must visit the newly assigned locations to receive their documents.
Alhind, the outsourced service provider for the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Indian Consulate in Dubai, has announced revised arrangements for collecting pending passports following the closure of four Indian Consular Application Centres (ICACs) on October 22.
While passport collection and submission services at the affected locations have changed, other consular, passport, visa and attestation services continue at 12 operational centres across the UAE.
Which Indian Consular Centres Have Closed?
The four centres that have permanently ceased operations are:
- Musaffah, Abu Dhabi
- Al Reem, Abu Dhabi
- Dubai Investment Park-I (DIP), Dubai
- Al Majaz, Sharjah
The closures have reduced the number of Indian Consular Application Centres in the UAE from 16 to 12.
Where Can Applicants Collect Their Pending Passports?
Applicants who selected one of the four closed centres for passport collection must now visit the designated alternative location.
The revised collection arrangements are as follows:
- Dubai Investment Park-I, Dubai: Collect passports from UW Mall, Bur Dubai.
- Al Majaz, Sharjah: Collect passports from UW Mall, Bur Dubai.
- Musaffah, Abu Dhabi: Collect passports from Al Danah Centre.
- Al Reem, Abu Dhabi: Collect passports from Al Danah Centre.
Alhind has advised applicants with passports awaiting collection at the closed centres to visit the relevant alternative location to receive their documents.
Which Indian Passport Service Centres Remain Open?
The remaining 12 Indian Consular Application Centres continue to operate as usual under Alhind Tours & Travels.
These include:
- Bur Dubai
- Indian Association Sharjah
- Ajman
- Umm Al Quwain
- Ras Al Khaimah
- Fujairah
- Kalba
- Khor Fakkan
- Al Danah Centre
- Al Ain
- Madinat Zayed
- Ghayathi
The Bur Dubai facility is one of the larger centres, with 45 counters intended to help manage applicant volumes and waiting times.
Walk-In Passport Services for Urgent Applications
The Indian Embassy has confirmed that certain urgent applications will be accepted without appointments at all 12 operational centres.
These include:
- Tatkal passport applications
- Passport applications for newborns
- Emergency Certificate requests
- Applications from individuals aged 60 and above
Eligible applicants can visit on a walk-in basis, with services handled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Applicants with other requirements should check the appointment process before visiting a centre.
Indian Passport Centre Timings and Appointment Booking
All 12 operational Indian Consular Application Centres in the UAE operate from 8am to 6pm.
Applicants are permitted to enter the centre only 15 minutes before their scheduled appointment. Arriving substantially earlier will not provide an advantage.
According to the advisory, new appointment slots are released daily at 9am and 9pm.
What Applicants Need to Know
Indian nationals with passports pending collection at the four closed centres should check their designated collection location before travelling. Applicants who need to submit new applications or access other consular services can continue to use the 12 remaining centres.
For urgent passport-related requirements, eligible applicants may use the walk-in facility, subject to the applicable procedures and first-come, first-served arrangements.
Applicants should consult the official appointment portal and relevant service provider announcements for the latest information before visiting.
